He is separated from wife (A) - they have a 4 year old son together.
He was making plans to have another woman (B), that he met at a bar, live with him after knowing each other for a month and a half.
Another woman (C) took him to court for a paternity test for a child she tested 6 other men for first.
He blew off the paternity test so the judge ruled that he was to pay child support until he takes the test...
Turns out that child looks just like him.
He decides to break up with woman (B) and moves in woman (C) because "it is cheaper to live with her than to pay child support"
Now he hardly ever sees or takes care of his first son...

He is against Marriage Equality because "it's immoral".

7. I just feel bad for the kids

As a father who is absolutely devoted to his children, having a father who cares makes so much difference in a child's life.

Nothing makes either of my daughters happier than when my wife or I stop what we are doing and acknowledge them. They are so excited when either of us come home after being gone for a few hours to show us what they've been doing without us. It breaks my heart when I hear how uninvolved some people are with their children. The children are the ones who are suffering the most from all of this.

18. Not really that unusual for a man for the most part to abandon children

from a first marriage or liason in favor of a second family they started. We have a similar situation in our family and it's been the grandparents, aunts and uncles who have tried to reach out to the first children, while their father spends all his time and money on the third wife and his youngest three children.

It's not very nice or noble of them, but it seems to happen frequently. Actually, it is immoral IMHO, but as long as there is no way to make them live up to their responsibility to provide nurture as well as material support, I don't know how you can make them do it.

your post is important. Your half brother isn't so terribly atypical when it comes to people who disapprove of this issue. No, maybe most aren't quite as scummy as he is (sorry.....but you already know that) but many, many, many have histories that are far from stellar when it comes to their own marriages and divorces and so much more. I think, given the opportunity to look into the backgrounds of all of the people who are against marriage equality, you'd find the vast majority are hypocrites, some of them as grossly hypocritical as your half brother.

It's a very acute form of it! Like the originator former Congressman Joe Walsh he prides in himself in being a deadbeat dad and refuses take care of oldest son yet be very sanctimonious, pompous and judgement of others that don't fit his "high" standards. If gays and lesbians marrying is destroying "traditional" marriage they are sure doing a poor job of "destroying" it. Its guys like him that is really destroying marriage!

Seriously I feel what it really boils down to is this: Who are we as average intellegence adults can dictate what who another person can love whether that person is male or female or any ethnic background.
