(21,130 posts)2. Great movie, Babyface with Barbara Stanywick
A Hollywood Precode gem. Barbara does a lot more things to men in this movie that you can't believe it was made in the early 1930's. This movie sent the censors into a frenzy!

(21,130 posts)13. And it is truly shocking considering it was made in the 1930's
I showed it to two young women from Fiji and they couldn't believe it was an old movie. My mouth dropped open several times watching this movie. It is on a set of pre-code movies called forbidden Hollywood part 1. There are two other movies one with jean Harlow and the other with Helen Hayes as a prostitute. Check it out sometime.

(2,124 posts)3. For fucksake, when was that poll taken?
42% of women think it's justifiable for themselves to be raped if they give the guy a woody first?

(12,977 posts)5. I saw something saying that poll was old
I think from the 1970s.

(53,031 posts)6. sadly, women internalize a great deal of sexism

(10,362 posts)8. They got the same results in a recent poll. Here it is
The poll of 1,000 adults found that 54 per cent of women believe rape victims should be held accountable for their attack.
Women were more likely than men to blame victims, with those aged between 18 and 24 the most likely to judge.
Twenty-four per cent of this age group said wearing a short skirt, accepting a drink or having a conversation with the rapist made victims partly responsible...
'But rape can happen to anyone in any circumstances. It's particularly worrying that younger women are more likely to hold people responsible for what happens to them. The 18-24 age group were more likely to say that engaging in conversation in a bar or accepting a drink makes them partially responsible.'

Poll conducted by: Wake Up To Rape
I'm guessing these are British women, so probably more progressive than the US.

(5,763 posts)12. How awful.
Yes, I thought women would be just as judgmental as men toward the victim. I wouldn't have predicted they were more so.

(27,985 posts)15. I think the women blaming other women for rape
is a form of magical thinking. It gives them a belief system that feels like it keeps them safe from rape. It doesn't.

(115,103 posts)16. I Am Going to Dropkick the Next Dudebro Who Tells Me Coercive Sex is Consensual Sex
If men are capable of figuring out that James Bond movies are not real life, they should be damn well capable of telling the difference between fictional coercive fun-times sex and real-life coercive assault.

Also, those cute coffee on the hand and bottle over the head moves are popular in fiction but sing physical force can result in even more physical force and aggression from the asshole.
