Question that involves compression socks

I would hope that this isn't portrayed as asking for medical help, I'm just wondering if socks that help with circulation in diabetes patients help with folks with gout.

I'm not in any way attempting to get medical advice, dispense it, or anything - I'm asking about the utility of compression socks for gout and arthritis.

on the gout discussion forums. I'm guessing not, though. Given the cause of gout, I don't see a mechanism that compression socks would use to benefit gout. They're for circulatory disorders that cause edema. Gout's swelling is from a completely different cause.

If it worked, you'd see discussion of it on the self-help forums.
