So is Leviticus relevant, or not...?

When presented to an individual of faith yesterday, that they may be living a life of hypocrisy; it is your interpretation of Old Testament biblical law...

However when an individual of faith presents it themselves to you or I today, it is the end all to a CONSTITUTIONAL-related matter...

I'm confused.

Which is it...

The bible is some people's holy book but not all people. The Constitution says we all have equal rights

that is based on the Old Testament.

I thought we didn't, but some Americans seem to think we do.

3. Bringing up whether a Bible thumper follows the *entire* Bible shuts them up in a heartbeat. >>>>

From a FB conversation today that started from someone posting a pic of one man + one woman:

Bible Thumper 1: The way it's supposed to be...

Roland99: says who? The Bible? The Bible also approves of slavery. The Bible also approves of forcing a man to marry a woman he rapes. The Bible also approves of stoning a woman to death if she has sex before marriage. Thank "god' we're not ruled by the Bible but, rather, civil laws!

Bible Thumper 2: Roland99, not everyone has to agree with you and your belief...we all have our opinion...if you don't like what I believe then so sorry!

Roland99: it's not that I disagree with your opinion. It's that your opinion would infringe upon the constitutional rights afforded to all Americans. Just because your religious beliefs don't abide by same-sex marriage doesn't mean we should not allow that in America. Our laws are not based upon the Bible (thankfully). Sorry..it just peeves me when people pick and choose which parts of the Bible to follow.

Bible Thumper 3: GOD gives every man and woman free chose.......

Bible Thumper 3: we cant argue with, Unbelievers,,,,,,

Bible Thumper 2: No we can't BT1...that's why I didn't say any more..I don't pick and choose which parts of the bible I live by...I believe the bible is the law and we can't live one foot in the world and one foot in God...it's doesn't work that way. I know who made...See More

Bible Thumper 3: Amen... my sister... we believe. and thats all that matters... everyone will meet God , account for their own actions...

Bible Thumper 2: Amen BT1 love you!

Bible Thumper 3: AND...... EVERY Knee shall bow and EVERY Tongue, WILl confess GOD is KING..

Bible Thumper 2: Amen

Bible Thumper 3: got it a little wrong..

Bible Thumper 2: BT1... we are sinners and we aren't perfect and everyone seems to think we are because we believe in God...which is farther from the truth...we make mistakes!

Roland99: So, BT2. You believe in the whole bible? So you believe the things I posted earlier? They're in the bible. Just wanna be clear.

Bible Thumper 3: Yes We Sure Do..

Roland99: Also, no one is telling you or your church to perform same-sex marriages. But your beliefs or anyone's cannot infringe upon the US Constitution.

Roland99: Wow. So. You would stone your daughter to death if she had sex before marriage?

Bible Thumper 2: Oh my gosh Roland99...

Bible Thumper 2: Judgement is in God's hands...I love God and I love you!

Bible Thumper 2: And I will be praying for you...have a bless day!

And there you have it. They crawl up into a fetal position and grab onto their nebulous faith as that's all they have.

4. Leviticus will be relevant again

when people need to relieve themselves after all the plumbing in the world has been destroyed. (Among other things) Leviticus tells us how to avoid contaminating water (stream and well) with human waste, in my opinion, a most valuable Old Testament instruction. Politics has always been polluted by religion and vice versa. In this country, however, we have a clear Constitutional imperative to keep these things separate.

5. Leviticus isn't even all that relevant to Christians.

Christ's victory is supposed to have freed us from the Old Testament laws. (to be replaced by a new law of love)

Anyway, that's how my faith works. Somebody pass me the bacon-wrapped shrimp!
