. . . . . . The Milquetoast Gun Bill that will include word salad but no actual change, with assault rifles still freely available and more easily obtained than Sudafed. Background checks will also be watered down to a required affidavit from a buddy who says the prospective gun buyer is capable of lifting the gun and loading it.
The left will say how they passed the best bill they could. The right will say they saved the rights of gun lovers.
The NRA gets wood. Again.
Gun manufacturers and magazine makers have a We Got What We Paid For party, with wild, celebratory firing of live rounds into the night sky above Newtown, CT.

(62,325 posts)told that our Reps are powerless, they can't stop Corporations from winning because it would be a 'waste of everyone's time' to try, or they would 'shut down the government' etc etc.
Seems even when we win we lose. So what other suggestions do you have so that we can experience what it feels like to win on the issues once in a while?

(62,325 posts)happen and we will be told again the fighting Republicans is not possible, we have to compromise, so what if people die, it's pragmatic, no one wants to lose their political career over something like this etc etc
What I want are politicians who are willing to serve only term with no Corporate rewards when they leave office. Iow, to be willing to go there, do their job, and go home and back to whatever it was they were doing before.
I do not want people in office who are more interested in making it a career than in risking actually working for the people.
And I have a feeling that if we had more of that attitude in Congress, we would be pleasantly surprised because Big Money could not buy them. And I also think they WOULD be reelected. I'm not sure they should stay for too long, DC seems to be a very corrupting environment. But I prefer to elect someone who goes there willing to risk not being reelected in order to do what is right.
