For YEARS I have donated to you, walked for you, bought pink blenders and potato peelers every October, and have neglected every other breast cancer charity. Now some of them will get a chance at my money and my effort. Thank you for opening my eyes to what I was really donating to.
In honor of you I have just donated $100 to Planned Parenthood. Tomorrow I will research another breast cancer charity to work for. Any DUers who have suggestions, I would welcome them.
Bye Komen. And fuck you.

(5,494 posts)I am as angered as you are over this Komen thingy. So I checked which food companies stand with Komen and so far I have Emailed KFC, Purina, Yoplait and Wendy's telling them I will no longer purchase their products due to their association with Komen. And that I am watching to see if they take a big step backwards from Komen. And that I am not alone out here.

(2,593 posts)Although I regret that Planned Parenthood was targeted in this manner, I am glad to now have a clear picture of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. I was previously unaware that it was a top heavy organization that did so little to benefit breast cancer research. I feel so duped. I thought Nancy Brinker did this work solely to memorialize her sister. I had no idea she was taking the exhorbitant salary I've heard about in the past few days. Sometimes I can be so naive, thinking people do good things for the right reason and it distressing to realize that is often not the case. This genie cannot be put back in the bottle, no matter what they do in the future.
