bwahhhahaha blatant, craven, ass-covering

Dear xxxxx,

Let me begin by apologizing to you, because this is likely not the first
you’ve heard of the situation and we wish you could have heard about it
from us first.

I am referring, of course, to Susan G. Komen’s recent implementation of
a new grant policy. This national policy revision makes any grant
applicant ineligible to receive funds if they are under formal
investigation for financial or administrative improprieties by federal,
state or local authorities. We have been told this impacts a handful of
grantees across the nation, including Planned Parenthood.

To clarify, no current Komen Phoenix grantees are affected. Planned
Parenthood does not currently receive funding from Komen Phoenix
although they have applied for and received grants in the past. And
while we are not able to fund any applicants that do not meet the new
national eligibility criteria, we will continue to build on local
relationships and maintain our working partnerships to ensure the
underserved and uninsured women and men of Arizona have access to the
care they need.

Our shared mission is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by
providing vital breast health services to all women. In the 20 years we
have been serving the central and northern Arizona communities, we have
invested more than $20 million to support breast cancer screening,
treatment and education programs. This year alone, we anticipate
granting more than $1.5 million to support nearly 3,000 mammograms, 400
diagnostic procedures, treatment for 150 patients, and educational
programs to reach thousands of women throughout our community.

Regardless of the national policy outcomes, our local impact remains
unchanged – and not at all possible without you.

We appreciate and value your opinions and encourage you to continue to
be a part of the cure here in Arizona. Our hope is that together, we
will remain focused on meeting our community need and the fight to end
breast cancer.

Sincerely,

Beverly Kruse
Executive Director – Komen Phoenix

Dear Ms. Kruse,

The national leadership of your organization made a deliberate decision to use its funding as a political weapon. The "new policy" was a pretext implemented for the sole reason of justifying this action.

Throw the bums out and reverse the policy. Then we can talk.

Unless that is done, SGK and its affiliates cannot be trusted with anyone's money. Who's next on the chopping block? Who gets threatened to knuckle under to some demand from this leadership or be cut off?

If you value your work, get rid of these people or get out yourself. Charities engaged in open political thuggery tend to acquire funding difficulties. How gold is your parachute?

too many people making an awful lot of money for themselves mostly justifying these organizations' existence rather than doing any real work. Its a huge racket.

congressman to investigate a pro choice organization, we have an excuse to stop supporting them. Which is fine, I also have the authority to stop supporting Komen, and I don't need a congressman to get the ball rolling for me.
