Planned Parenthood and Komen
Susan G. Komen for the Cure® has been criticized for changes in its granting strategy and performance criteria revisions and their potential impact on Planned Parenthood and other Komen grantees.
The Denver Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® has been granted an exception for the Affiliate to fund Planned Parenthood for the grant cycle April 1, 2012 through March 31, 2013 pending the Grant Review Committee and Board of Directors approval of their grant application. All grant applications go through a rigorous review process.

(23,720 posts)Where do they get their money? How is the foundation funded? People donate?
I can't help but wonder, who the hell got paid the big bucks to call a meeting and decide that announcing that discontinuing the funding of PP would increase donations to their foundation? If it does, I would expect they recently received or is currently waiting for a big check then raises raises for everyone.

(26,219 posts)Susan Komen's sister is the founder/CEO. She was married to the founder of Brinkman International, which owns Chilis and Macaroni Grill (among other franchise restaurants) and is very wealthy.
As far as funding, donations, corporate grants and who knows what else is in the mix.
Scroll down through GD tonight - a lot of information being dug up on how they allocated funds and it isn't pretty. $75mm annually for administrative and salaries annually, including $500k annual salary for the CEO. Of a charity.
