Religious Right Counting On Catholics On Supreme Court To Overturn Roe V Wade
The egregious laws that have been passed regarding abortion is as we know a strategy to get SCOTUS to obliterate Rove V Wade. We must remember that 6 of the 9 justices are Catholic. And probably 4 of them are secretive ultraconservative Opus Dei members who are bound to the Vatican's wishes secretly. That means that as many as 4 of the 9 judges would find restrictive laws on abortion as constitutional.
The laws do not have to actually be constitutional all the righties need is for 5 judges to declare them so. They are looking for a Dread Scott type of decision over abortion. Remember Citizens' United and how it was expanded to overturn virtually all campaign legislation.
The Roberts court could actually find a "personhood" law as constitutional were such a law get to the court and actually expand that to outlaw virtually all family planning nationally. And you can count on the churches to lobby and campaign for such an outcome.
Cardinal Dolan's prominence is hardly an accident. He is a spokesman for all things Catholic. And even though religious righties believe Catholics to be nonChristian, they still support almost the entire dogma that the Catholic church teaches. That is churches control sexual relations even in marriage. The father is the head of the family and the woman is just there for pleasure, child bearing and child rearing. Quite simply "shut up" and stay in the kitchen.
If you carefully analyze all the GOP, right wing, and religious right rhetoric the only future for women is motherhood and service or being a celibate old maid. Forget all the frilly distorted messaging and understand the brutal truth.
In the final analysis the churches and their GOP allies are about legislatively and even physically forcing women into their proper
role in this new century. Women and the men who support them can either fight vicious or submit.
