The dynamite quote of Pope John Paul II mentioned by EJ Dionne on Rachel's show

The quote is from:
APOSTOLIC VISIT TO CANADA

ADDRESS OF POPE JOHN PAUL II
TO THE MEMBERS OF DIFFERENT CHURCHES
AND CHRISTIAN COMMUNIONS

Anglican Church of Saint Paul (Toronto)
Friday, 14 September 1984

United in the name of Christ, we need to ask critical questions and assert basic moral principles which have a bearing on technological development. For instance, the needs of the poor must take priority over the desires of the rich; the rights of workers over the maximization of profits; the preservation of the environment over uncontrolled industrial expansion; production to meet social needs over production for military purposes. These challenges present us with important areas of ecumenical collaboration and form a vital part of our mission of proclaiming the Gospel of Christ. And before all of this we lift up our hearts to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

My thanks to EJ Dionne.

Overpopulation leads to misery on a massive scale. A pox on the anti-gay, anti-women Church.

One of the things that Wojtyła excelled at, was flowery BS signifying nothing - or, in the case of Mulieris Dignitatem, decorating misogyny with a bouquet of stinkweed.

that those words emanated from the Vatican, with its history of collecting riches while being surrounded by very poor people, and being a political organization sometimes over its spiritual duties, and oppression of the poor in myriad ways. The Vatican has a very checkered past, sad to say. But the words and the thoughts he expressed are beautiful.
