Origin of the "Pink Ribbon" Komen foundation- needs to be boycotted and replaced by the PP ribbon

Which should be rainbow colored or something that represents ALL victims of
breast cancer- men get it too, you know.
I'd like to see a new breast cancer ribbon issued by Planned Parenthood-
and all those sexist pink ribbons made irrelevant.
Men and women are victims- of all sexual preferences- all races, all religions-
the Komen "pink ribbon" is now a symbol of RW hate in my book.
Just thinking out loud...

A ribbon that includes EVERYONE in breast cancer awareness.
I think the original Komen Foundation had the very best intentions-
but it is very clear at this point, that they have been taken over by
the fringe right wing delusional Christian mafia.
Time to rebuild a better way- Komen can't unring this bell-

Including the impoverished who the RW fringe are attempting to
exclude from the right to healthcare which could save lives.
If you think about it- it is justice in that the Lakota were among the
early victims of genocide by the
RW "Christians" of that time in history.
This modern day war/genocide against the poor is no different in my view.

I don't think the pink ribbon should be tossed out completely. It represents breast cancer awareness in women, not the Komen Foundation. Also, it is sexual orientation, not preference.

Of course, it doesn't have to completely look like a ribbon. If one takes the "P"s in Planned Parenthood, and link them back to back, one blue, one pink, it could be a more original design (though one "P" would be backwards).

It just has to be a symbol, hopefully one that could be easily worn. Why not a condom package/birth control pill container with "PP" emblasoned on it? The "PP" acting as a connector for the condom package/birth control pill (or its carrier).

I want a symbol that includes everyone and emphasizes that EVERYONE
deserves access to PP healthcare-
If these nut-fucks are allowed to influence funding for poor women, you can bet
gays are next.
It MUST not be allowed to happen.
If my gay best friend is suddenly denied access to PP, and develops breast cancer
because she can't afford preventative screening, due to these fringe "RW Christians"
Then who is next-
They've made it clear that poor women are of no concern to them, so can you
IMAGINE their agenda for gay people's access to PP?

As someone else pointed out , Yoplait yogart and other major brands
flaunt it on their products to make people feel good about buying their
brands. I think a boycott on ALL goods sporting their pink ribbons
indicating a percentage of your purchase goes to the Komen foundation should
be boycotted.

Give people a PP ribbon product to support instead.
Thus people would have an informed choice as to where they want their
money to go. That's why I am suggesting a NEW ribbon for breast cancer awareness-
one that signifies support for Planned Parenthood.

I, for one, will not be purchasing ANYTHING with a pink ribbon on it from now on.

One that signifies support for PP and makes the pink Komen associated one OBSOLETE.
That's what I a pitching on this thread-
If we could make this happen and enough people boycotted goods
with the Komen mark on products, corporations would drop their
association with the Komen Foundation over night.

38. I think it should be gender neutral
Fri Feb 3, 2012, 12:34 PM
Feb 2012

Not all women adore pink. The one thing that has always bothered me about the whole pink/breast cancer correlation is that it tends to feminize a deadly disease that doesn't act in any way feminine and kinda gives the message that only women are affected by breast cancer. Though not as prevalent, men do get breast cancer. Pink, is also in my opinion, a weak color. Let me qualify that statement before folks get angry... Since we're babies we're taught in this society that pink denotes girls, who are somehow less than boys. What does that say about our struggle with this deadly disease? That we don't require as much support, that it isn't as bad because it's a "girl" disease?

So, I think a dark blue ribbon, heck even black, would be more appropriate (but I'm sure some other organization has dibs on those colors).

Corporations need to feel the heat of using the pink ribbon to sell products.
That is the way to send the message that we WILL NOT allow
the Christo-Fascist movement to take over this country.
The corporations don't give a damn about religion or cancer-
they are only interested in profits.
None of their profits should come from their association with
the dominionist movement.
