LONDON A sensitive conference call between FBI and British polices cybercrime investigators was recorded by the very people they were trying to catch, officials and hackers said Friday.
Hacking collective Anonymous published a roughly 15-minute-long recording of a conference call apparently devoted to tracking and prosecuting members of the loosely-knit group.
The FBI said the information was intended for law enforcement officers only and was illegally obtained.
A criminal investigation is under way to identify and hold accountable those responsible, the bureau said in a statement.

Ironic since the FBI, NSA and GCHQ all worked hard to keep communication insecure

(1,915 posts)3. Most of the Current Conference call systems are insecure and are prone to hacking
This has been stated repeatedly by computer security analysts...but apparently no one took notice.
The real question here is that How many Corporate boardroom calls have been eavesdropped by competitors, and how many national-security related calls have been compromised. I bet that the culprits of those wont be coming out to disclose their scoops.

More likely an Email was intercepted that had the codes to dial in, and nobody on the call took the time to verify how many callers were on the line.
