General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWE have all read that komen has reversed their stance on funding PP, although it's
a weakly worded, parsed semi-statement. Frankly, I don't trust or believe them because they would have mentioned that they also took money away from the REAL WORK OF FINDING A CURE in November! I believe as far PP is concerned, based on the rallying of REAL America, NOTHING that komen says means anything and if I were PP, I wouldn't take s**t from them.
They were willing to put women in danger of horrible deaths to prove something to right wing idiots! A single human life is PRICELESS and the countless numbers of women form a treasure box of humanity whose values is incalculable. komen from now on it less than nothing and has exposed themselves to care more about a political agenda than they do a single disadvantaged human life.
PP shouldn't take a dime from komen, not even their sorry ass hand in Partnership. A snake is a Snake....
If the Net was able to raise 3 million dollars in less than a week, do you think there's anyway we can make up the difference that was taken from the researchers in November?

(18,219 posts)This hubbub will subside, and they will have more problems in the future getting donations. My opinion is that snake money is as good as honorable money---it helps the same people. And PP really is all about helping women. And they can help more women with the funding than without it.
I do agree, however, that the Komen statement was weak and the political issues were getting in the way of their work. And I do not trust that they will continue the funding indefinitely. I am skeptical about this and figure they will try to quietly cut this funding again in the future....but for now, take it while you can get it.

(3,232 posts)and even then, nothing is guaranteed for the organization and its prospects for a future where people will think of it as a non partisan organization. We (my partner and I, friends and family), will be giving all of our future donations to Planned Parenthood and directly to stem cell research. We are also looking at where we give our other donations during the year with much more scrutiny because of this incident. I do think that we will be able to make up the difference from that which was taken from the researchers in November by the partisan Komen corp., by continuing to spread the word about that need just as we are doing with PP. We will be working with everyone else in this country and in this world who cares about the need for that research money to be replaced as well as increased in the hopes that the added funding might help researchers to arrive at some breakthroughs in a shorter amount of time. I no longer trust Komen as it exists and depending upon the future, may never be able to trust it again.
Thanks for this post.
