I quite enjoyed it!

(like I said, when I see equal treatment, then I am glad. For too long, it's always guys doing the good stuff, the impressive stuff, the funny stuff, while women were shown only for T&A. Tonight's show is looking like a big improvement to me. And Madonna absolutely rocked halftime, with a fantastic spectacle of a show, with tons of class! I sure hope there's a way for non SB watchers to see it)

a lot of my discernment regarding sexism depends on equal treatment.

Because women are and have been displayed this way forEVER, it is a gigantic breath of fresh air to see the shoe on the other foot.

Or the underpants on the other gender, if you see what I mean.

What I especially like seeing is women treated as men have ALWAYS been portrayed--as interesting, funny, talented, capable, worthy, impressive------someone I WANT to identify with in an empowered, positive way.

I wish I had money so I could go open a restaurant called "Roosters." At Roosters, all the wait staff would be hot, young men, dressed with ties, no shirts and short shorts. AND, my food would actually be GOOD.

I'm gonna guess that half the women in town would be lining up to go there.

If I were a woman I would not feel comfortable even filling out a job application at Go Daddy.

Actually I feel pity for any man that has to work there also, because the owner must be a huge sleazebag.

Hate to admit it but I am a customer of theirs.
The customer service is pretty good though.

But I have already started migrating my stuff to another company because I hate these demeaning sexist ads.

Sun Feb 5, 2012, 09:14 PM
Feb 2012

It's just because of the the ads. All of their ads objectify women to promote their shitty 'products'.

That ad that was posted upthread wasn't the worst one. They make a whole point about how 'sexy' the ads are.

How is a young lady supposed to walk in the door and feel comfortable filling out a job application when the company is condoning this kind of objectification of women from the top of the company?

I understand advertisements feature attractive people. I wasn't born yesterday. I'm not against sex and I'm not a conservative person.

The biggest problem I have with the godaddy ads is that they are in poor taste. They are sleazy. And they objectify women. The owner of the company clearly has no class.

Basically they are choosing to build a brand image around boobs and beaver jokes.

That's an interesting branding decision, I'm moving my business for the same reason I don't eat at hooters.
I'm not judging someone who does. Just for me I don't want to give them money.

Thanks!

Sexist and racist ads should all be subject to fines. Heavy fines, big enough to hurt their stock value. I'd be happy to add bigotry to the definition of obscenity and seeing GoDaddy slapped hard.

That way we also won't have to see bullshit like this:

The implied punchline was that they didn't paint words over her boobs. The aud was thinking about her boobs from the start. So where's the switch up? Where's the pay-off on the joke? You can get away with being a little sexist as long as you're having fun with it (see Hefner, H.). But in the end it was just an ad about leering at skin. Go Daddy gives the objectification of women's bodies a bad name.
