Blast kills husband of missing Utah woman, 2 boys; Do you remember this case?

snip

Powell was under investigation in the disappearance of his 28-year-old wife Susan from their West Valley City, Utah, home in December 2009. He claimed he had taken the boys on a midnight excursion in freezing temperatures when she vanished.

Innocent until proven guilty and all that, but that camping in sub zero weather with two wee children did not pass the smell test to me!

who authorities believe is a person of interest in her disappearance.
If he can't have the boys, her parents sure as hell can't.

So sad, the boys did not have a chance.

I can't imagine what the family must be going through. I'm thankful the social worker didn't make it inside. I'm sure that wouldn't have stopped him.

No one wakes up their two little boys in the middle of the night to go for a drive in the snow to go build a campfire.
The whole story sounded like a lie from the first day.

There are no words. I felt strongly he killed her (his alibi was a midnight camping trip in sub zero temps?). He moved from his home in less than 2 WEEKS of her disappearance. His dad admitted to some sexual relationship and was later found to have had child porn and pictures of women, including Susan, without their knowledge. I'm so sick about this.

I'd just moved to Utah when Susan disappeared. The night she "disappeared" was the first time I'd ever gone ice skating. We were bundled up till we looked like Weeble Wobbles and were still going numb in places. And then this jackass says he took his kids camping in that- one of them was a toddler back then- I called bullshit at the time and so did everyone else in town who'd been outside at all in the past 24 hours.

He won't be missed but it would have been nice if he'd taken just himself rather than kill two more people he supposedly loved. At times like this it's easy to understand the appeal of a belief in Hell. For some people, death is just not enough.
