Karl Rove ‘offended’ by Clint Eastwood’s Chrysler ad

Karl Rove ‘offended’ by Clint Eastwood’s Chrysler ad
Posted by Rachel Weiner at 12:52 PM ET, 02/06/2012

A Chrysler ad aired during the Super Bowl Sunday night has inspired ire among some Republicans and admiration among some Democrats — with both sides seeing a political message that boosts President Obama.

In an ad touting the resurgence of the American auto industry, Clint Eastwood declared that it’s “halftime in America and our second half’s about to begin,” which could be interpreted as a reference to Obama’s second term.

The ad’s themes seem to echo Obama’s own argument that his administration brought the auto industry back from the brink of disaster.

“They almost lost everything,” Eastwood says of Detroit. “But we all pulled together. Now Motor City is fighting again.”

“I was, frankly, offended by it,” said Karl Rove on Fox News Monday. “I'm a huge fan of Clint Eastwood, I thought it was an extremely well-done ad, but it is a sign of what happens when you have Chicago-style politics, and the president of the United States and his political minions are, in essence, using our tax dollars to buy corporate advertising.”

What Karl fails to understand is that corporations are people and they have the right to free speech. If Chrysler want's to make an ad touting their recovery which was made possible by Obama, then who are we to violate their right to free speech. LOL.

The Republicans just hate the fact that Chrysler and GM are doing so well now. They'd rather than Toyota or Honda were the #1 automaker in the World. Obama saved the auto industry and they paid back their loans and we're a stronger and more secure country because of their recovery.

You know that had this been done 8 years ago when his shitstain dirt cowboy was running for re-selection he would have acclaimed it as one of the greatest commercials of all time. Sucks when you know something can have an impact and it works against the millions/billions on the lies you're trying to peddle.

Chrysler paid for the ads. Are you saying that because the U.S. government owns some shares of Chrysler that tax dollars bought the advertising? That is a stretch and I do believe that you know it and that it has absolutely nothing to do with "Chicago-style" politics, whatever the heck that is supposed to mean. More of your "uniter not a divider" language?

Rove had his Swift Boaters for Truth smear campaign run by Creative Response Concepts
slime John Kerry as a coward in Vietnam even though Kerry was awarded a bronze star,
a silver star, and three purple hearts and at the same time he did not lose one man in his
command doing some of the most hazardous duty of the war.

And Rove says he was offended by Eastwood's ad? Please

If Rove is against something I will almost always know it is something that I can support.

the man sucked at the teat of atwater. He's been doing dirty tricks, fabricating for quite some time. Just listening to him blather makes my skin crawl. I find him totally morally bankrupt, and he's been doing the underhanded dirty tricks, lying about candidates for a long time.

The ad gave americans hope. And you can't have that. The lizard people need the american people to feel hopeless, to feel fear; how can they win otherwise.

Just for what he did to politicize the Justice Department and railroading Gov. Don Siegelman, the little turd should be in prison for life.

Then there's the business of the aspens turning on Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame, which should be a ticket to the Star Chamber.

He has nothing to offer the people in the way of an informed opinion.
He is, in the words of one liberal, irrelevant to today's discussions.

Maybe Rove will go back and change his statement 4 more times like he did when he testified during the Scooter Libby investigation.

No one, other than Bush and Cheney themselves, personifies the miserable failure of the Bush administration more than Karl "The Moran" Rove.
