OK, here is how to play. There are 274 days left from now until election day. The game is to guess how many days will be left by the time Jim Robinson of Free Republic removes the anti-Romney rhetoric from the top of the discussion forum over there.
Here is what it says as of now:
----------------------------------
Welcome to Free Republic, America's exclusive site for God, Family, Country, Life & Liberty conservatives!
Newt's Position on Activist Judges, Rebalancing the Judiciary, Restoring Freedom!
Romney's positions: Abortion, gay rights, gun control, liberal judges, mandated socialist/fascist healthcare (RomneyCare)!
----------------------------------
I'm guessing that as Romney becomes the apparent nominee, JimRob will take down the part about Romney.
I will start off the game by saying that it will be gone on day 200 to go, or 74 days from now.
Any other takers?

(32,886 posts)Which is pretty ironic given that zero is one of their nicknames for Obama.

Run, Newt! Run!

(14,400 posts)because rimjob doesn't like to be on the outside. He really gets his jollies when party higher ups and celebs like Ann Coulter come by to pay him a visit or ask him to yammer at a meeting. How else can he justify the $1200/mo in travel expenses he claims in his endless freepathons?
I think a 3rd party candidate would effectively cut him off from his wanabe buddies.

(69,059 posts)1) Trolls coming to rain on our parade, because they don't have a parade of their own.
2) Disillusioned Freepers who think they want to join our team, who will post a couple nice things about Obama, and then react with outrage when they get banned "just because" they criticized the "homosexual agenda" in the LGBT forum.

(1,326 posts)That's when we see the "Mitt isn't our first choice, but we now must rally around him to defeat Obama" post.

I mean, are they getting scared? Or frantic, even? Or happy denial?
I had pretty much the same thought as someone else upthread did...another virtual Jonestown...

(32,886 posts)They are clinging to hope that Newt (or in some cases, Santorum) can pull out some major victories in the rest of the southern and midwest and rust belt states where Romney is particularly weak. If that fails, they are hoping Romney cannot amass enough delegates to prevent a brokered convention where some conservative hero, like Palin (I am not kidding, they really think that) or someone like that can be annointed.

(50,269 posts)Up until then the freepers will be hoping for a brokered convention where Romney doesn't win the nomination.
That's my guess anyway.
On August 31, 2012 a new message will be posted warning any freepers who don't show enough adoration of the great romney will be zotted.

(336 posts)They hate Bush's deficits and they've always hated Bush's deficits. In fact they were so angry at the time they couldn't even type to say how much they hated them.
Right now they're dumping on Fox, Beck, Coulter, Rove - if they really have realised they've been played like a fiddle, then we could be in uncharted water.

Now, they act as if they were dragged along kicking and screaming.
