So we're in the process of restoring funds to the sequestered stuff that the rich and the crazy want restored. Air Traffic Controllers today, perhaps the military tomorrow, etc.
Meals on wheels? "Make no mistake, in these difficult times we all must make sacrifices blah blah blah..."
So the 99% get #%^*ed again.
My question: was this the intended outcome of the sequester, or are Democrats folding like cheap lawn chairs? Frankly, I can't tell on this one, although I'm leaning towards the former.

(12,712 posts)bring about austerity and avoid using the dirty word.
Both sides can point at each other, but none of them can be directly fingered for the sequester being a sideways form of austerity that would, (as you notice) gradually unfold.
Imagine if the "sequester", (has a nice, smooth sound, ey) hit all in one day. Nope. We will see it unfold over a couple of years from what I know. If it was one fell-swoop the response could have been rather intense and angry to the point of boiling. Now, we just simmer roughly.
Seems rather strategic what with the negative perspective we get from the impact that AUSTERITY had in Greece.

(32,139 posts)Of course the game was rigged from the very start so that austerity for the 99 percent was the only possible outcome.
And of course we all knew that cuts to the military or other one percent favorites would never stand.

(23,864 posts)...my point. The S.T.O.C.K. Act. That shit was practically passed overnight. Practically passed overnight because everyone was aware they were going to defang the fucker quietly at the first chance they got.
And that's exactly what they did and the President signed it.
These people are not fools, though in our disdain for them we may consider them such. No, they are simply people who are not representing our interests.
That simple explanation is very disturbing and causes a great deal of cognitive dissonance when considered and so more chimerical explanations must be contrived in order to protect ourselves from a very, very unpleasant reality.
