Lawrence O'Donell is saying on his show many predict that the foundation won't last for another five years!

(14,177 posts)I give it three years. A lot of people are talking they won't ever do the walks again and they are going to be supporting Planned Parenthood.

(16,887 posts)The name as a brand is destroyed....even if the foundation fired everyone & replaced them with new folks, even while maybe announcing double than usual funding to Planned Parenthood, the name will always evoke suspicion and mistrust of who is behind the scenes. I know dozens of women who have already said they will never give nor trust the Komen foundation. They will support the breast cancer cause in other ways.....and there are lots of other organizations other than a Texas based organization.

(7,947 posts)cutting off $3.75 million to the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, $4.5 million to the University of Kansas Medical Center, $1 million to the U.S. National Cancer Institute, $1 million to the Society for Womens Health Research, and $600,000 to Yale University over embryonic stem cells, I don't see what the point of them carrying on is.

(95,337 posts)I thought it was real nice ( ) of Karen Handel to say 'I'll forgo any severance package'. Seriously, with one stupid decision she's brought down a fundraising juggernaut.

(13,920 posts)But unnecessary, even pointless foundations don't tend to die. They just morph and live on, as long as the CEO can take home a salary at the end of the day, as long as there are people who don't read past "well, they retracted it, so all is well".

(1,039 posts)...stopped giving to Planned Parenthood, I think they would have survived. They would have lost the support of strongly pro-choice people but would have maintained support from pro-lifers and people that don't hold strong opinions on the subject. The fact that they tried to walk it back pretty much guaranteed that they pissed off people on both sides. Not a good plan.
