I don't know where y'all are, but here in Oklahoma, we were having some lovely weather (86 high today), preparing for the start of tornado season, when alerts flash on our screens..."conditions may be conducive to snow on Thursday evening/Friday morning." Not a "freeze warning," not a "y'all it's gonna be a bit nippy," NO! SNOW..IN MAY! The states above us, should be getting hit soon. I was looking at weather.com and saw predictions for as much as foot of snow in some places. I am so perplexed.
I wonder how this will all play out, especially since so many things are trying to bloom. My roses and irises are already a month behind, and I am afraid this will kill them.
How much do y'all think this will play into "global warming is a hoax" crap?
By the by, from all the weather predictions I have seen, we (in OK) as supposed to have a warmer summer than last year, which will MAJORLY suck, but the east coast is supposed to have a slightly cooler summer.
So, what's the weather like where you are and do you know what your summer will be like?

(27,533 posts)Thanks to a mild winter, I expect the insects to be a problem this summer. I think it will get really hot as we get more into summer. Just my opinion. Rainfall adequate overall, with no big floods.
For those who think global warming is a hoax, there is nothing I can do to change their minds. But it is clear to me that the phenomenon is a natural fact.

We've had more December in April than we had in December..or January for that matter..

The all time record low for entire month of May is 43.
The average low for May 2nd is 64.
I assume our summer forecast is similar to Oklahoma's. Our summers always $uck anyways. The only hope is that they start late and/or end early.

(53,918 posts)We lost three trees! Our yard was dead so long there was no point in cutting it.
The only place I have been in NE is Boston, which is why the bombing was even more sad for me, because I really enjoyed that city...even when I got there during a Nor'easter. The only place open was a gay bar...had a damn blast!

(17,101 posts)I read the summer is supposed to be a bit cooler than normal. Which means we'll be breaking heat records.
When I lived in Alberta, it was common for it to be snowing (and I mean snowing! not flurries) in May one day and 85 two days later. Crazy weather out there.

(15,798 posts)has been snowing all day. Northeast Colorado, and parts of the northern mountains are looking to get a couple feet of snow. High today was 28. We desperately need the moisture, but the extremes are a bit tough on these old bones! Anyway, this is likely the storm that's headed your way.

(46,436 posts)and a new storm is blowing in. This is really late for us up here, too, but not unheard of. That seems really bizarre for Oklahoma, though.

(24,146 posts)i'm in northern colorado and mother nature seems too stoned to keep her shit together this spring. 80s over the weekend, rain started around 730 or 8 last night, snow probably started around ten and finally tapered off around 8 tonight. and it's only supposed to be in the upper 50s through the weekend.
we were 20 inches below our seasonal average in early april and now we're two feet above normal after this last storm. that's about six feet in a month, something i've never seen.
great for the snowpack and the reservoirs, but really? i want it to be spring.
old farmer's almanac says this summer will be cooler than average and, after last summer i sure hope to gods that's how it plays out. we had weeks of 95+ june into july last summer and the whole damn state seemed to be on fire. i don't ever remember a summer as terrible as last year and a spring as cold and snowy as this year.
