Making official what many have expected for weeks, President Barack Obama has nominated Chicago business executive Penny Pritzker, a longtime political supporter and heavyweight fundraiser, as his new Commerce secretary Thursday.

Pritzker's nomination could prove controversial. She is on the board of Chicago-based Hyatt Hotels Corp., which was founded by her wealthy family and has had rocky relations with labor unions, and she could face questions about the failure of a bank partly owned by her family.

If you are not worth at least a billion dollars, your voice doesn't count.

or one of their subsidiaries. Nothing is better for business than refusing to allow unions, paying low wages to workers and demanding higher productivity.

Of course, this not sitting well with most of us has no bearing on his decision, nor can we expect any support from our elected - nothing short of us as democrats continuing to fight to GOTV, beginning at the lowest local contests will bring change.

she also may have "offshoring" problems. Something to do with the disputed fortune within the family. I didn't hear all the report. Assume if true, it will come out later.

On Edit: The Bloomberg Panel also said: "Pritzger is a friend of Bloomberg Financial News" as the introduction to the report that I heard part of.
