URK! Facebook Friend (who I respect) listening to "Foster Mom of 23" aka Michelle Bachman

This friend is someone I respect. She puts her values into practice, and is a decent human being who has adopted several children from horrible circumstances.

I think I may throw up.

1. Bachman is Exaggerating Her Foster Parent History. She Didn't "Raise" 23 Foster Kids

I will give Bachman due credit for caring for foster children. Although I'm afraid to find out how any of them in her long-term care turned out as adults.

Bachman had 23 foster children in her home. Some long-term, some short term. Not to discredit her efforts, even the short-term ones probably needed a place to stay. BUT, she did not raise 23 foster children. Which is what she makes it sound like she did.

From Rolling Stone (on page 7 of the linked article): "As Bachmann has told and retold her story as one of divine inspiration, she has recast her biography in ever more grandiose directions. A great example is the issue of her '28 children.' Bachmann has five kids and, something even her most withering critic should acknowledge, has cared for 23 foster kids. But in 2008 — 10 years after any of her foster children had been in her home — Bachmann was talking as though she was still dashing home from Congress to cook for them. 'Every weekend now when I go home, I will go to the grocery store, I'll buy food for the family,' she said. 'We have five kids and 23 foster kids that we raise. So I go to the grocery store and buy a lot of food.'"

Remember, the fact-checkers openly admit they couldn't keep up with Bachman in trying to fact-check all her crazy, whacko statements during the campaign. She hasn't slowed down on those since then either.
