Yahoo Mail was messed up for a while this morning.

If you had trouble logging on and couldn't get to the problem solving page, don't worry. It's not your problem; it's Yahoo. Nobody's stolen your password or anything like that. It's a technical problem at Yahoo.

As of right now, the system is back up and working, at least for my account. If you weren't able to log in, keep trying.

It may well have been just a partial outage, or regional. MineralMan Feb 2012 #6

It could have been a regional thing, I suppose. MineralMan Feb 2012 #4

I sent out a hugely important email this morning. Only to be shut down. I was PISSED. Thank god it saved my draft, otherwise I would have had egg ion my face.

Doesn't it always seem that way though? The one time when you need to send out something important....BAM.

I don't know. It does screw up now and then, but I like Yahoo Mail Plus pretty well, overall. I've been using it for years, and like their mail client and storage.

I just wanted to reassure people who were having problems that their mail account hadn't been hijacked.

It doesn't actually go down very often at all. I've been using it for years. But, when it does, it can be alarming. Every email system I know of has outages from time to time. My wife's account is on Gmail, and she's had problems from time to time, too.

I download everything from four mail accounts to Thunderbird and use the cable company for outgoing mail, so I wouldn't notice it at first. Logged on just to check, and it worked fine.

Been using it for years and Yahoo's gone down for an hour or so maybe once or twice a year, which is as good as it gets for a mail service. I was thinking about Fastmail for a while, but then even they went down for over a day.

(And, AFIK, Yahoo doesn't scan your mail like that googly place.)

They have a great spam filter, offer large storage space, and have all the tools I need in their client page. I switched to it from Compuserve's mail when Compuserve was getting ready to go away. I like a remote client for my email, since I email myself attachments for any project I'm working on as an off-site backup. Yahoo's client tools work just fine for me.
