I still want to know if attendees can carry their guns into the event? I've asked that question here a number of times and never was able to get an answer.
In my mind - it would really be ironic if they had stringent security to get into the event and didn't allow guns.
On edit: I'm hoping that someone from DU will be attending and will report back to us.

http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Man-shot-dead-at-Houston-s-Bush-Airport-4483406.php?cmpid=hpfsln
HPD spokeswoman Kese Smith said an armed male in his early 30s entered the airport at 1:35 p.m. and fired a shot into the ceiling near a ticket counter in the pre-screening area of the terminal.
...
It was unclear if the officer shot the suspect, or what kind of weapon the man was carrying.

(51,076 posts)I'd like to know if they do indeed have security like you allude to.
I'm for people being allowed to keep guns for what ever reason, just not weapons of war as these assault weapons were designed originally for.
funny how being in an unjust and unnecessary war as a kid had this effect on me, huh

(25,240 posts)The following note:
Texas generally prohibits the open carrying of firearms. During the NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits, conceal carry firearms are permitted in the George R. Brown Convention Center and the Hilton Americas-Houston Hotel. When carrying your firearm, remember to follow all federal, state and local laws.
Also some of the events and special attendees:
- Food, Fun, Fellowship and Firearms put on by Friends of the NRA
- A Leadership Forum featuring the following cast of characters:
Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz, Bobby Jindal, Rick Perry, Rick Santorum, Asa Hutchison and Jeanine Pirro
- Acres & Acres of Guns & Gear
550 exhibitors, 400,000 sq ft of exhibit hall space
- Stand & Fight Rally featuring Glenn Beck

(15,682 posts)Is the Leadership Forum where Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz, Bobby Jindal, Rick Perry, Rick Santorum, Asa Hutchison and Jeanine Pirro, will be doing their speechifying, being held in the George R Brown convention Center or the Hilton Americas-Houston Hotel?
Sounds like an accident waiting to happen if it is.
