Congressional GOP is not appealing to it's base

They are the base!
Maybe the Corporate Repugs have been toeing the line just to get votes and mkeep power, but over the last decade many of the GOP Congresspeople, especially in the House, more and more resemble their Tea Bagger voters.
Far right, science denying idiots.

Both sides have pretty much stopped pretending to do anything for its base - except, of course, djean111 May 2013 #1

Yes, I do see your point. GOP moving towards the extrem, Dems moving more towards GOP. djean111 May 2013 #3

when it comes to the period before an election and asking for money.
You are correct - the GOP is its own base, and the same is happening with most of the Democrats.
The tea-baggers and the disdained progressives and liberals have no one else to vote for at this point in time - not like either group is going to switch sides.
I don't see any hope and change on the horizon unless we get really different candidates, but now big money installs the candidates.

I see the Democrats, especially in the Senate, as being much more moderate than the progressive base.
While the GOP members in the House are looking more and more like the Tea Baggers.

I guess what I am going through is the process of realising that moderate Democrats are what used to be GOP, and I really have no place in the Democratic Party now, except as a whipping boy.
I have been exhorted to vote for the less evil, been told oh, this is just galactic chess - and told, when I don't like the results, well, you know who you voted for, so shut up.
I can only draw the conclusion that just perhaps the Democratic Party has changed and I need to look elsewhere.
Not a rant or a threat or whatever put-down is coming, just a statement of fact.

And the day I am expected to be a "fan" of any politician is the day I just back out of the whole process.

and I understand your frustration. Many of us here share your disappointments but choose to stay in the party and push for it's elected officials to do what is right and not act like Republican-lite.
We stay loyal, BUT NOT SILENT.
