I have never really listened to Rush for years but for some reason I listened to 5 minutes today

How long can he keep up "his act?" Rush was just making stuff up that had zero
truth to it ...... Obama is in Mexico and he has been apologizing for America, he
thinks we should give back California & New Mexico to Mexico, and all "illegal
immigrants to America from Mexico get free health care, welfare, and their kids
go to college for free too.

I flipped it off when it came to the national news (Fox) and thought if people
really listened to Rush and Fox they wouldn't know their ass from a hole in
the ground and they would be awful citizens w/ a strong case of paranoia. I am
willing to bet that Rush doesn't even believe the shit he selling,

He does have somewhat of an audience in those mindless ass kissing morons that's follow him.

Granted Limbaugh is probably on a few FM stations, but mostly that's an AM product, and that has become a wasteland. Electronic interference is so high that these stations are practically worthless in a lot of areas. Unlike a generation ago, there is very little local programming with local personalities.

In short, AM is just about dead. FM still has a life and satellite radio has longer legs (even if Sirius isn't highly profitable).

" if people really listened to Rush and Fox they wouldn't know their ass from a hole in

That's just it! People really *do* listen to Rush and Fox, they *don't* know their ass from a hole in the ground and they *do* have a strong case of paranoia.

They listen to Rush and Fox because it reinforces all the negative things that they already "know" which makes them feel like they were so wise to have known these things all along.

Great post!

I used to love talk radio, especially here in the Bay area, but the years of corporate homogenization have sadly taken their toll. The interesting/challenging/entertaining era of talk has evaporated, and the scary part was watching it (listening to it?) happen.

However, thanks to the internet, it is possible to cobble together a decent listening program. And NPR, of course.

Yes, those that still rely on the am/fm dial as their resource are being willfully deceived with total garbage, but are becoming convinced that it is everyone else who are, in fact, deceived. How is this chasm going to be breached?

As a night owl, I occasionally scan the late nighttime dial to drift off (a habit forged in my Michigan tweenhood, pulling in the monster am rock stations from around the midwest/east coast on my transistor radio). Now it is a pitiful selection, ranging the gamut from frivolously hallucinogenic (C2C) to the most drooling of knuckledraggers (hello Levin). The most curious of offering is something called Red Eye Radio, from Texas (of course), aimed at the midnight shift, wherein two totally clueless guys spend hours mulling over rightwing talking points without any discernible intelligence or insight. Actually, correction: one guy talks a lot, and the other guy agrees with him.

Seriously, these guys CAN'T be making any money for the owners, can they? So why is this what they shovel out 24/7? Hmmmm, whatever could the reason be?

Another of his beauties today: before capitalism, the only way people got rich was to steal. So nobody before about 1800 was rich?

Rush has been doing the same fact-free rant against Democrats/liberals and moderate Republicans for 20+ years. It is amazing that somebody can spew that much hatred and just flat out keep lying and be on the air for such a long time.

Didn't Newt Gingrich invite Rush to Congress after Republicans won the House in 1994 in the Contract On America wave? I think Newt even carried Rush's bags for him. I'm surprised the teabaggers didn't do the same in 2010.

... with Sandra Bullock and some guy. If you drink it, whoever hears your voice falls in love with you and they do whatever you say. But if they go too long without hearing your voice, they break out of the spell. I thought, "Wow, that's just like Rush."

People listen to him fanatically everyday in order to get their "news" and know what to think. But if they go without him and Hannity et al for a while, they get their heads back. Such ignorance and batshitiness must be maintained regularly, lest the braincells have a chance to operate freely.
