Compassionate Conservatives in the FL legislature killed $50B Medicaid ACA expansion!

it was something like 50 BILLION in turned down gov't funds to get medical coverage for 1.2 million people like myself, who have no medical coverage, but obviously - the Republicans would rather let people suffer and die than take the funds offered by the US Govt. They must be shoved out of power in FL. They are sick cons! My local fox just ran the story on this, and just before it showed how millions and millions of dollars designed to give tax breaks for small businesses to hire people in high crime areas is being horribly abused. They showed how those who designed the maps of who was eligible left out high crime areas, but put in tourist attractions like the tourist strip near Disney, and the Universal Studios area. Universal is getting 6.1 Million in tax breaks from the program! This state is scandalous and shameful!!!

From the FL Democratic Minority Leader Perry Thurston:
“We could extend medical coverage to 1.2 million people. We could save 5,700 lives per year,” he said. “So the loss of legislation or perks for some of our friends, we compare that with the saving of lives. It’s a no-brainer. It’s a non-decision.”

Florida Democrats see this as their only option to force a debate on Medicaid expansion (a filibuster which failed to get Repubs to accept the funds). Though the state Senate has passed and Gov. Rick Scott has endorsed a plan to use federal Medicaid dollars to pay for people to get private coverage through the upcoming online insurance marketplace created by the ACA (as Arkansas has done), House Republicans have refused to do the same. Instead, they passed Wednesday a much more limited plan that would use only state dollars and cover far fewer people. http://www.governing.com/blogs/view/gov-florida-democrats-filibuster-to-force-medicaid-expansion-debate.html

So, I'm seeing now that they didn't even vote on the Medicaid billions before ending their legislative session, and now Gov. Rick Scott (R) is considering forcing a special session to make them vote on it, because he said Floridians are already being taxed for the ACA and FL should get the billions to run the program because it would INSURE FLORIDIANS, even if he's against it. My goodness, a human heart in that man? I hope he forces the bastards back in session.

My local fox just ran another new story slamming legislators for voting for each other if they don't want to show up (they allow this somehow!), and even showed a Republican legislator voting for a Democrat who wasn't present, and the Dem said he did not give the Republican permission to vote for him! They also slammed the 2011 legislative speech from a Republican who fought to make it harder to vote, thus cutting back early voting days. They have been very honest today, just wow!
