1. Could you explain what support of the NRA and banning people means?

I don't support the NRA (they are, to put it mildly, fucking idiots) but I do support gun owners in this country and their rights to own guns.

I CAN agree with the nra on some issues without agreeing with the nra on a ton of things - and to be clear I am talking about basic issues and not with them as an organization.

Should I ever own a gun in the future (and I probably will if I ever get a place out in the country) I would like to think I and the other 99% of gun owners at that point are not judged by the 1% who use them in crimes and such.

One can support ideals without supporting an organization that spouts them (I agree with some things peta does but won't ever be a member of their organization).

So when you say 'any support' what does that mean?

6. I think anyone promoting the NRA or defending the NRA on the DU should be banned....

It is like supporting the GOP. No difference.

Read the NRA magazine monthly. I have read my brothers. They constantly attack Obama, horrible attacks.

I have no problems with guns. I own many of them and have a concealed carry license.

But a group who has Palin, Backman, Nugent as speakers should be enough.

Here are the last 8 keynote speakers at the NRA National meeting....

2012 - Glen Beck
2011 - Mike Huckabee
2010 - Sarah Palin
2009 - Oliver North
2008 - Glen Beck
2007 - John Bolton
2006 - Tommy Franks
2005 - Tom DeLay

So to me it is like someone on the DU supporting any GOP organization.

My brothers bought me a life membership for a wedding present 19 years ago. Bought my wife one also. I also shoot in long range target competitions and the ranges that hold them require an NRA membership. It is hard to find 1000 yard ranges around here.

The mission of The Liberal Gun Club is to provide a voice for gun-owning liberals and moderates in the national conversation on gun rights, gun legislation, firearms safety, and shooting sports. We serve as a national forum for all people, irrespective of their personal political beliefs, to discuss firearms ownership, firearms use, and the enjoyment of firearms-related activities free from the destructive elements of political extremism that dominate this subject on the national scale. We also actively develop and foster a variety of programs for the purpose of firearms training and firearms safety education, for both gun owners and non-gun owners.
