Homosexual Behavior Is More Dangerous Than Smoking!

Janet Porter of right-wing Christian group Faith 2 Action has just released an antigay video so hateful, ignorant, and irresponsible that you almost have to laugh. Or sob.

Exploiting some cute kids who don't know any better, Janet sets out to illustrate The Journal of Epidemiology's very scientific findings that “Homosexual behavior is up to three times more dangerous than smoking." She's seen sitting smugly in a classroom handing out ciggies, celebrating Smoker's Pride Month, and showing off fake books like Heather Has 2 Cigarettes and Daddy’s Roommate Has Lung Cancer — which, for the record, sound riveting.

Janet's point? "We don’t promote smoking in schools, so why would we promote something even more dangerous?"

It's amazing what memes can do for (or to) a society, a culture, a country, a world.

I often wonder whether there's any hope left, whether human existence might be just another blip of life on our planet. Then I consider that greater than 98% of all species that ever lived on Earth are extinct and I relax. So far, we've had a pretty good run. We can rest assured that we've made an impact on our world -- always the goal of the 1% (so they say).

What keeps me chewing through the straps is that as long as there are people who are willing to put continuance of all life on our fragile sphere (asymmetrical oblate spheroid) as a benefit to human life. Then, those straps do not taste too bad.

DU is one safe haven so that I may continue to appreciate that taste.


This kind of post reminds me of the hind side of that equation and spurns me on.
