Fox News host Andrea Tantaros expressed concern on Friday over President Barack Obamas support for over-the-counter access to birth control for girls aged 15 and up.
Im just wondering, at 15 years old, is the Obama daughter, Malia, going to go on birth control? she asked on her radio show. Are they gonna put her on birth control? Because hes very concerned with the contraceptives and pharmaceuticals that are going in the mouths of everybody elses 15-year old daughter.
On Thursday, Obama said he was comfortable with the Food & Drug Administrations (FDA) decision to make Plan B contraceptives available to younger women without a prescription, explaining that it was based on scientific evidence.
Yeah, the same scientific evidence they point to on climate change. Uh huh, thats very reliable. Tantaros scoffed. I got news for you, Mr. President, and you should know this by now, cause your oldest daughters about to turn 15 in July. You should know this. I dont even have a 15-year-old but Im gonna clue you in: Psst. Girls arent women at 15. Theyre little girls. Theyre not women. Theyre not adults, as defined by the law of the land. Mr. President, you should know that. And as a dad, you should respect that.

(28,394 posts)They have no shame. The Obamas have pretty much succeeded in protecting the girls' privacy and encouraging them to have a "normal" childhood (as much as that is possible). Malia must be mortified to having this blockhead twit talk about her in such a personal manner. I bet they are doing "damage control" this week to protect her.

(8,339 posts)It's none of your fucking business what ANY 15-year old chooses to do. According to medical ethics, they are old enough to make decisions about their own bodies.
God, those assholes get dumber every day.

(25,415 posts)being girls and growing into being women. 15 year olds do not play with dolls like my 7 and 8 year old daughters do. Teens are capable of making more responsible decisions and should not be treated like little kids. What an idiot. Also, Conservatives freaked out about anyone talking about the Palin daughters. Hypocrites.

(146,254 posts)Look to your own life, and leave the lives of others alone. It seems highly unlikely that Malia is going to have a lot of opportunities to explore her own sexuality for the next three years, so she probably doesn't need regular contraception in pill form. If that were not the case, as it is for so many young girls and young women in this country, then contraception would probably be a topic of discussion for both her and her family, along with their physician.
You, Andrea, are none of those things. Not her, not her family, and not Malia's physician. So, Ms. Tantaros, I ask again, "How is this any of your fucking business, and why are you using the daughter of the President to promote your foolishness?" I'll wait for your answer.
