(146,286 posts)That was the question in the case, and that's what they ruled on. In California, Proposition 8 violated the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution. I never expected a broader ruling than the narrow one they gave.
No, it doesn't affect any other bans. It will be, if not overturned on appeal to the full 9th District panel, become precedent though, for other states, if cases are brought. If that happens, it will certainly go to the SCOTUS. We shall see.
For now, it's a great triumph for Californians.
