Hypocrite Glenn Beck rips journalists for questioning govt and calling it evil

Glenn Beck's words reveal his views on whether government is good or evil depend strictly on which party holds the White House.

Glenn Beck on June 28, 2006 (George W. Bush in the White House):

BECK: Everybody always thinks if you're in the press, you just -- you have to believe that the government is evil, don't you think? I think that's the first thing in Journalism 101 they teach you -- the government is evil and you must take them down at all costs. Or, how is it that they all have that attitude? That's what I'd like to know. That's, you know -- that's the number-one thing on the declaration of principles that I would like to see The New York Times print. Because, you know, we're always saying, "Aw, they don't understand us." Well, I don't understand them. I don't know who these people are.

How can you be fighting for the same things that Al Qaeda wants, you know? Can you imagine -- can you imagine The New York Times coming out and saying "Hey, the ovens aren't so bad," back in World War II? Can you imagine that? I don't know; sure, there are some Jews in there, but I bet they might make some good pizzas in there too. What are you -- what? The New York Times is just -- I don't get it. I don't understand it. Except that I really truly believe that they believe that we're a bad nation, or at least our government is bad and has always been bad. "You know, we've been passing out those smallpox blankets to Indians.

But now that there's a Democrat in the White House - an African American Democrat - Beck gleefully plays the "government is evil" card.

"We have a government run by radical revolutionaries..." -- Beck, May 5, 2013

"Governments kill millions" -- Beck, May 5, 2013

"We have the responsibility to throw off the chains of tyranny," Beck says. And predicts he'll be accused of calling for revolution. May 5, 2013

I've often thought of starting a post telling DU to quit fucking telling me what to do but that would be kind of hypocritical.

The OP clearly says it's a Beck post, I'm terribly sorry that someone is forcing you to click on said post.

1. Well-known RW loon says/blogs/tweets something nutty/dumb/offensive (which, you know, they already do every hour of every day)

2. Someone posts it in GD...

3. We rage and furiously type our counterpoints/jokes/usual DU responses for 40-50 posts...

4. A few hours later, another dumb comment from another dumb RWer is posted, rinse and repeat...

Yeah, sometimes their comments go so far out of bounds to the point that it IS newsworthy, but the daily garden-variety stuff should be left alone...I don't need to know the Rush/Beck/Palin/Coulter/whoever silly comment of the day *every* day... just imo

I suppose we all like to pretend we're clever enough to have absolute knowledge of what should or should not be discussed...

Though, some people do grow up and out of it.

an unwitting accessory or conduit for promoting the very same messages it intended to denounce? Where is the line drawn, if there is one?

it often maligns and ridicules it, sometimes to great comic effect. Any promotion of the message is usually dealt with PDQ by MIRT or the admins who happen to have the responsibility of drawing the line.

I for one will never visit, on purpose, a site run by Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh or any other number of nutjob assholes. Most normal people don't; leaving their conspiracy addled lunacy to the followers.

I kind of like to have their shit exposed here. It reminds me that even though Beck is gone from National TV he's still a nutjob we should be watching. The same goes for shitheels like Michael Savage and the rest of the wacko RW radio brigade.

.... actually say "The government's job is to keep us safe."

Ok, clown, so that means there SHOULD be food/drug/environmental regulations,
there SHOULD be stock, banking & investment regulations,
there SHOULD be background checks & common sense policies surrounding the 2nd Amendment,
there SHOULD be food/medical care/safe housing for elders and kids, and
there SHOULD be a climate change policy.

Yes? Yes??

Or does that just mean we have a big ol' army that marches all over the world and blows "suspicious" shit (and people) up.

11. NYU hosts Beck award for his business plan.

May 2013

Beck was honored at a ceremony at NYU Tisch School of Business by the Disruptive Foundation which was founded by Harvard professor Craig Christensen. Here is their blurb explaining why he got award.

Glenn Beck, one of America’s leading multi-media personalities, is the founder and owner of TheBlaze, a 24/7 news, information and opinion network that is available on television and online. TheBlaze.com attracts 10 million unique visitors per month. Beck’s quick wit, candid opinions and engaging personality have made The Glenn Beck Program the third highest rated radio program in America and his unique blend of modern-day storytelling and insightful views on current events allowed him to achieve the extraordinary feat of having #1 New York Times bestsellers in both fiction and non-fiction. Beck also stars in a live stage show and is the editor of GlennBeck.com. He previously hosted a phenomenally successful show on Fox News. While Beck entered the media world as a DJ at the tender age of 13, everything changed when he found a new vision of his career – talk radio. In 2002, he launched The Glenn Beck Program on just 47 stations with the mission to make listeners “feel goodness from my show and accept me for who I am, flaws and all.” Nothing has been the same since. Today, just a few years later, he owns his own television network, his radio show can be heard across the country on over 400 stations, his books reach the top of bestseller lists and he travels across the country performing his live stage show to sold-out audiences. Across all of these mediums, Beck connects with his fans in a whole new way, inspiring and entertaining them with his humor, hard-hitting interviews and honest tales about his life.
