Ray Harryhausen RIP

In London at the age of 92.
Some may not know who that is, others owe the fantasy world of their childhood to the greatest stop motion animator in film history.
His movies are not his only legacy, the legion of film makes he inspired are as well.

I was 8 years old when the "7th Voyage of Sinbad" was first released. It was a thrill I never forgot or outgrew.

Fair voyage to you, Mr. Harryhausen! The child in me will love you always.

Sorry, Ray Harryhausen didn't do 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Check out IMDB, if you doubt that. That was a Disney production when Walt was still alive. There's no way Walt Disney hires Harryhausen when he has arguably the greatest animators on the planet under his employ.

I believe Harryhausen had something to do with a film that subsequently became known as the sequel to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. I don't think that was made by Disney, IIRC.

I still think his work is more effective than the digital equivalents today. They were things with weight, not just pixels.
