Rush is near the edge of the cliff...isn't it time to give him a nudge?

Look, I've been so disgusted with the culture of AM hate-radio for a long time. I've joined every boycott, written letters to advertisers, called my local station, wrote to the director of Armed Forces Radio, wrote a letter to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff asking Rush be removed from Armed Forces Radio when I didn't like the response I got from the director, etc, etc, etc...(as the King of Siam would say)

I keep hearing the same things...

- He's the highest rated show on radio (due to the number of stations he's on, I'm sure)

- Don't waste your time, he's not worth getting upset about

- He's just preaching to the choir

- His 15 minutes is almost up

- He's irrelevant

- We can't do anything, because the billionaires need him and they will always fund him

Well, the time is nigh! His 15 minutes may finally be coming to an end, but there is something I'm going to try to do, that if it could be organized on a large scale, might be the push Rush needs.

It seems that the concentration has been on a national level, through advertisers and Clear Channel, and that is great, but is not enough.

It's time to take the Flush-Rush campaign to the local AM radio stations. I don't give a crap if they are a good station that provides 21 hours of good local programming, if they broadcast Rush Limbaugh for 3 hours...they need to suffer the consequences of that decision.

Every fickin' advertiser on these radio stations, EVEN THOSE ADVERTISERS THAT DON'T ADVERTISE DURING RUSH' SHOW need to hear from folks who are sick of the fucking HATE.

And that's what I'm sick of...I'm sick of the fucking hate. Companies that advertise during ANY SHOW on a local station that carries Rush, must be held accountable.

It's not enough to say, "well, I'm just buying ad time during the hours Rush isn't on"...they are STILL SUPPORTING A PLATFORM THAT DELIVERS HATE.

It's time we bury Limbaugh once and for all....and salt the fucking land that was used to grow his stupid fat ass!

Note that I didn't write this myself, I cribbed from another blog with their permission.

How to hurt Rush, perspective from a radio insider.

Commenter Jager in post #97 lays it out..

As a retired radio group VP with years of station management on my resume, here is a better suggestion. Go after the local advertisers on his show. There are very few local advertising availabilities on Rush’s show and they sell at a premium. Monitor the Rush station, make a list of the local advertisers and do the following:

1. Call the advertiser, be polite.
2. Write a letter to the advertiser, be polite.
3. Copy the station and the FCC with the advertiser letter.
4. Politely call the General Manager of the station, tell the GM what you are doing and why, tell them you have contacted the advertiser and copied the FCC.
5. If the local advertiser uses an agency, contact the agency, as well.Just ask the local business, if they use an agency.

It won’t take many letters and phone calls to get their attention and remind the station that the letters need to be placed in the station’s public file. (the public file is an FCC requirement)

Local stations don’t get many local avails in Rush’s show and many pay a huge fee to Premire to run the show.If they start losing business because of that asshole, they will raise hell with Premire.

If KFI in LA got a hundred letters with follow up phone calls it would get their attention very quickly. The key is to put on the pressure through the local advertisers.

Rush isn’t going anywhere, he isn’t going to apologize. The local station will blink and get very nervous, very quickly.

I've started to keep track of ALL the advertisers on our local station WNIS. Even those that aren't running ads during Rush' show will here from me.

Rush is a hate peddling billionaire who made his fortune hawking Reagan's shitty anti worker pro rich policies. Reagan screwed us all. He's been dead ten years now. Can't we flush Rush and let Reagan's bullshit die with him?
