Arizona AG Pleads No Contest To Leaving The Scene Of An Accident

ERIC LACH 10:32 AM EDT, THURSDAY MAY 9, 2013

On Wednesday in Phoenix Municipal Court, while all eyes were on the Jodi Arias murder trial, Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne (R) pleaded no contest to leaving the scene of an accident, a misdemeanor, and agreed to pay a several hundred dollar fine.

As reported by KTVK, at the incident occurred in March 2012, while Horne was being followed by FBI agents conducting a campaign finance investigation. An FBI report released in October said the reason Horne didn't stop after the accident was because he was having an affair with Assistant Attorney General Carmen Chenal, who was in the car at the time.

Horne on Wednesday issued a statement announcing that the case had been settled.

“Today I paid a $300 fine to settle a traffic misdemeanor arising from not leaving a note after a traffic incident in a parking lot, which at most left a paint scratch and no dent," Horne said in the statement. "The vehicle’s owner stated the car already had a dent that the federal agents who noted the incident wrongly assumed I caused… Had I known there were scratches, I would have left my name and contact information so that I could have taken care of this personally."
