Entrepreneuer wants to open shop in Milwaukee - investors say no, demand cheap overseas labor

Windshield innovator wants work kept here

Miller, a Marine Corps veteran, says he's had offers from investors to make the windshields, which use light emitting diodes embedded in clear acrylic - but that all of them have wanted the manufacturing done overseas where materials and labor would be cheaper.

That isn't acceptable to Miller because he envisions a small manufacturing plant in the Milwaukee area that would employ veterans returning from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

"I am a disabled vet, and I want to hire disabled vets. This is an American product with American-made components," he said.

His company, Illumatek, specializes in lighted windshields for motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles. The artwork has won accolades at motorcycle shows and sales from people who spend thousands of dollars dressing up their bikes.

2. Disgusting. Mere "profit" is just NEVER enough for the "Defenders of the Faith Based".

It's all about HOW BADLY we can soak and exploit labor and workers to put more dollars in our pockets. Here's a guy who's wanting to do his fellow disabled brothers a solid and the parasites won't fund it. Apparently, nobility, following your dreams and doing the right thing no longer makes a great story; abject greed puts asses in the seats.

3. He should talk to Walker. Walker would surely help him be a job creator.
