Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse: God Can’t Stop Climate Change
"One U.S. lawmaker isn’t counting on God to help with climate change.
During a lengthy speech on Wednesday night, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse ripped one of his colleagues for saying the good lord would protect our planet from anything bad happening.
“I was recently at a Senate hearing where I heard a member of our Senate community say, ‘God won’t allow us to ruin our planet,’” he remarked while on the Senate floor. “Maybe that is why we do nothing.” Whitehouse did not identify who he was talking about."
"The link between religion and climate change has been in the news lately. A study published in the June issue of Political Research Quarterly found that “believers in Christian end-times theology are less likely to support policies designed to curb global warming than are other Americans.”
