I get so tired of the ads and bullshit. I just need to know whos the nearest thing to a true progressive.

(27,711 posts)...but if I did my vote would go to Garcetti. He's not perfect and Wendy Gruel has done her damnedest to make that clear, but I think he has a progressive heart, even if the suit gets in the way occasionally, and Wendy Gruel rubs me the wrong way. She's not a bad person, but she strikes me as more of a centrist.

(8,515 posts)We as progressives have got to start pushing the real deal all over the country and it starts at the local level..Its so hard to distinguish when relying on the ads and mailers...Sometimes I feel to just go with who the Unions push for...But thats not always a safe bet..

(27,711 posts)Frankly, I favor the teachers union. For what it's worth - Garcetti has the endorsement of the LA Times and of all 3 other former candidates.

(20,176 posts)I mean I like the Big Dog but I cannot recall him endorsing the more-progressive candidate in a Democratic primary where the more-conservative candidate was not an obvious Trojan Horse Republican or simply a buffoon. Ever.
He's a solid barometer of Democratic party centrism and corporatism. I favor a liberalization of the Democratic party.
