I changed someone's mind today...

So I have worked for a cable company for the last 3 weeks as sort of an in between to figuring out what I really want to do with my life. I got "let go" today, but I'm cool with it (I'm not good at high pressure sales). I should probably be upset, but I have a Master's degree and I was selling things for $10 and hour. But I digress... So I had a customer come up to me today and tell me that they had to have Fox News as a channel on their cable. I asked him why, and he says it is the only news source he watches. I was about to send him away when I just decided to ask him why. He tells me that it is what his family watched, so therefore that is what he grew up on. I then asked him who he voted for when it was the presidential election (he just turned 19 and was on his own). He actually told me he voted for Obama. When I asked him why, he said, to be honest, I have been on my own for a year now, and I can still get health insurance through my parents which would cost me way more on my own. I said, once again, why do you watch Fox News, they tell you that this is a bad thing... And he actually said, I think I don't care about them anymore. You just made a great point. And that was my one sign up for the day.

I'm sorry you got laid off, but hopefully there's something much better waiting for you.

And good for that young man. He can see the propaganda and not be affected by it.

And yes, I agree, it is good seeing that young people get this. Also, I think it is actually a good thing I got laid off. I didn't like my job at all. I just have to find the right thing for me. I have been flailing this last year just taking whatever job I could. But now I have some time to figure out what I really want, and to live up to my fullest potential. BTW, I love your posts.

Just a couple of questions, a couple of leads and those who have a mind to think with will make a decision to seek the real. Keep it up! This is the time to keep an eye out for the open minded and ready to change.

especially with young people. They get it. I'm only 31, but I still feel old in comparison to some of these "kids". But they get it.

freaking miracle, blur! Do you know how many people swear it is the whole truth and nothing but the truth and will not listen to anyone, even their son tell them otherwise?!

Thank you, blur!
