I guess they think an impeachment attempt will be good for ratings

(63,173 posts)During the Kerry/Bush debates, he repeatedly softballed W, but when I complained about it on DU2, I was told what a fine and objective journalist Schieffer is.
Didn't see it then, don't see it now. He's another in a big crowd of GOP enablers. A waterboy, as you note.

(135,425 posts)But that's just me....
The clip of Porgie saying he didn't write any emails because he was "fearful of congressional intrusion" was right on the money. And his lamenting that "history is lost" because of this was great.
And Issa was just forced to say "Hillary Clinton is NOT A TARGET..."
It's obvious that he's just bloviating.

(23,664 posts)And that's why they never challenge them.
Every time David Gregory stands up to one of these assholes (OK, the three times he has actually done it) you can be sure he gets a ton of threats from some of the whacked out republican nut jobs. Threats of physical harm or death to himself and his family. At first he shrugs them off as the insane ranting of an unbalanced crackpot, but after he sees 20 or 30 of these things he might begin to get concerned. His wife may get concerned when she learns about them. Of course they're all loons, but one of them might actually try to do what he's threatening to do.
So after awhile, consciously or unconsciously, he begins to pull his punches. He lets his republican guests rattle on about Benghazi or whatever, realizing it's mostly bullshit but knowing what he'll have to put up with if he calls them on it.
And all of a sudden, viola, he's not an objective journalist anymore, he's a cheerleader for some of the fringe elements in US politics. He knows this and he's ashamed of what he has become but he still doesn't have the cojones to challenge republicans, so he beats up on the Democrats, knowing that their supporters are sufficiently sane to not threaten to kill him.

(346 posts)I rarely waste my time on these Sunday morning shows, but after hearing that Ambassador Pickering would be on, I was hopeful that he would be given a chance to debunk some of the "stuff" the GOP has been throwing against the wall. Alas, thanks to an either incompetent or biased host, that was not to be, as Pickering was barely allowed to get in any words at all. Here's my careful stopwatch analysis of time given to Issa vs. Pickering re #Benghazi - 12'06" for Issa, 3'25" for Pickering. This only includes time that they were being allowed to speak, mostly in answer to the (sometimes very lame) questions from David Gregory.
I agree with the OP that the MSM is probably hoping for more impeachment talk, and I also think they are willingly participating in damaging Hillary Clinton's 2016 prospects, so that it's more of a close race, which makes them much more $$$.
