NBC News analysis: IRS scandal is huge gift to GOP — and it won't die soon

http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/05/13/18228639-first-thoughts-the-white-houses-terrible-horrible-friday-spills-over?lite

It amazes me how Republicans can take something like this and leverage so much rage out of it that it begins to affect the thinking of people even outside their base.

But, when the FBI plants spies in groups of nuns and little old ladies protesting war and torture - while NOT doing the same for the growing numbers of white supremacist groups - this doesn't seem to hold as much attention.

normal people HATE teabagers, the only people who will be enraged are the assholes who hate us in the first place, and they are a minority.

DON'T be surprised if it' found out down the road this was engineered by GOP patsies in the IRS, don't be surprised.

secret subpoena story. I doubt that they will be able to trace the decision to do this to anyone remotely connected to the White House - but it certainly will make restraining any future abuses of political finance laws by right-wing groups very difficult to investigate.

I don't get why the IRS targeted the Tea Party. I mean I don't get why it wasn't the Department of Homeland Security

me that, chuck?

Commissioner Douglas H. Shulman, who was appointed by President Bush in 2008 and held by President Obama, left the agency in Nov. 9, 2012. Any pre-election misconduct would have had to occur on his watch. The current acting commissioner is Steven T. Miller -- a permanent replacement has not been nominated.[/div]

around the country because Occupy does civil disobedience doesn't put it in perspective? With all sorts of right wing political money going to tea party type charity groups, who are not allowed to talk about candidates in ads by IRS law? They don't think there should be different law enforcement for the actual issues of different groups? Really?

The people who are anti-Obama aren't going to be made more anti-Obama over this. They already have their volume controls on 11.

And a resurgence of publicity and political activity in the Tea Party groups is probably actually good for Dems. At this point, anything that is good for Sarah Palin helps Dems.
