I Need Some Info On This IRS Audit Controversy - How Did It Come To Be Exposed?......

Did some Tea Partier or one of the organizations that was audited come out and talk about this - or did the IRS themselves discover that this was being done and they stopped it and apologized for it. I haven't been following this very closely and really don't know how this came to be an issue. If someone could help me on this - it would be appreciated.

A side comment on it now - what I'm concerned about now is that these groups/organizations that were targeted and audited by the IRS- because they and the Repugs have made such a big issue about this - will think that they can get away with doing sneaky stuff now - because they might think that there's no chance that the IRS will audit them again. Will they think now that they have a green light to cheat?

3. I don't think they were even audited.

They were just targeted for extra scrutiny when they applied for tax-exempt status. Which seems reasonable to me since many of these groups are/were political in nature.

Why this is suddenly becoming an issue now, I don't know. I'd be interested to know the answer too.

Inspector General thought it was an issue.. this isn't some made up bs

7. Attorney's for the Tea party groups

made complaints. That May have caused the Inspector General to start his investigation which he is supposed to release soon.
Speculation is that the IRS tried to get out front on this friday with their news conference.
