In a new court filing, Casey Anthony is blasting Judge Belvin Perry for his interview a week ago on NBC's "The Today Show."
Anthony's bankruptcy lawyer said Perry's interview "completely eviscerated any possible chance" that Anthony might receive a fair trial in Orange County.
"Judge Perry revealed confidential information concerning events that occurred during the criminal case," the motion said.
In the interview, Perry said he believed there was "sufficient evidence to sustain a verdict of murder in the first degree" in her criminal case.

(2,434 posts)and hoping something sticks. This motion is to prevent a woman who claims Anthony slandered her and wants a stay from BC court to pursue her cause of action. Don't think the judge did too much to harm that case one way or the other.

(6,787 posts)I haven't followed this case carefully...but why would a judge talk about it to a such a vast audience? Or to any audience at all, for that matter? Good grief!

(12,151 posts)Perry favored the prosecution heavily in all the footage I saw. People got so caught up in hating Anthony they ignored all the b.s. coming from the state's side, including Perry's conduct of the case and the ludicrous conduct of the prosecutor.
Either way, though, he has no business commenting on the merits of the case in public. I don't know if it's an actual violation of judicial ethics, but it's certainly in incredibly poor taste. Now everyone who appears in front of him will have to wonder if he will deliver his own "verdict" on a talk show later on.
