Every year, we in Bear Valley have a parade called the "Miner's Day Parade". This year it's going to be called the "Heritage Parade" because of petty bullshit goings on between local idiots but that's neither here nor there...
Alex Collins was on family leave due to the birth of his son but returned to duty to help with the Dorner operation. He was with Detective Jeremiah McKay when it was reported that Dorner had been seen in the area of Seven Oaks. When they arrived on the scene at the cabin on Glass Road, that fucker opened fire, killing McKay and seriously wounding Deputy Collins multiple times.
This is great news! Deputy Collins has already undergone multiple surgeries and is a long way from being able to return to the Big Bear Lake Sheriff's sub-station, but his participation in the Heritage Parade will surely be the highlight of the day. All over the valley one can see signs in business windows wishing him well, and I've even seen messages in rear car windows.
I can guarantee there will be more than a few moist eyes lining the Big Bear Boulevard on June 15th. I'm planning on taking some onions to cut up so I'll have an excuse...
