Bloomberg isn't spending millions to win support for gun control? Seems like a "sauce for the goose" situation to me.

4. $276,000 raised by gun control groups? That's not very good.

If the support were as strong many here believe, I would think they should have done much better. If the gun control groups can't raise any money, that is not the fault of those who support RKBA.

But please tell us more about how whoever has the most money ought to make public policy. That's a fucking awesome position.

7. bloomberg is one person and not an industry

the funding comes from manufacturers of guns, parts and ammunition. its a multi-billion dollar industry

this is akin to comparing labor unions to corporate boards. a dumb and dishonest comparison

the gun industry does not represent america. they represent their own profits.

10. Politics is ruled by money

The NRA claims to have over four million members. That equates to somewhere in the neighborhood of $2 per member. Add to this the various fund raising activities, such as the "Round up"program, that they engage in and it's no real surprise.

For those not familiar wih the "Round up" program, it is a fund raising method by which customers of various retailers can elect to contribute to the NRAs institute for legislative action by simply rounding up the price of their purchase. I believe it was Midway USA that first started this particular practice and found it to be very successful, raising millions of dollars over the course of time that it has been used. The short answer is that supporters of gun rights in general, and the NRA specifically, are willing to donate at a much more generous rate than those with opposing views appear to be. Whether you, or anyone else agree with their views is inconsequential.

The NRA is doing what it's members and supporters want. That is why they have the money that they do. The opposition can bitch and try to marginalized them til the cows come home, but the truth of the matter is that until gun control proponents open their wallets and pony up like NRA members and supporters do, you might as well be spitting on a forest fire. We all know that every politician out there is a money whore. If you want them to do tricks for you, you have to be willing to pay for it.
