Obama Calls On Congress To Bolster Security At U.S. Embassies
President Barack Obama announced a new proposal on Thursday that would bolster security at U.S. embassies around the world in the wake of the deadly attack upon a diplomatic facility in Benghazi, Libya last year.
Standing alongside Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the White House, Obama called on Congress to "support and fully fund" budget requests recommended by an independend accountability board that would increase the number of military guards at diplomatic posts.
"I am intent on making sure that we do everything we can, to prevent another tragedy like this from happening," Obama said of the Benghazi attack. "But that means we owe it to them and all we serve to do everything in our power to protect our personnel serving overseas."
