Just wondering why

An old friend was talking to my hubby yesterday. He is one of the kindest, most generous and giving people I've ever met. He'll help anyone in need and would be there in a minute if we called. He said to hubby "your wife is so liberal. How can she like Obama? I can't even stand to look at his face!". Now this is a man who was raised by a single mom. Was educated with government grants and loans and receives Medicare and Social Security.

He is full of hatred for the president and went into a depression when Mr. Obama was re-elected. How can people have such dramatically different sides? Just curious and wonder if anyone has any insights?

...it's 'Pres. Obama'. If you were quoting your friend add the quotes. 'Mr. Obama' tends to be a RW insult.

Other than that, I have a few friends like that. Love them to death, but they know shit about politics. If the RW were to take over completely, they'd be screwed.

I think the hate is what bugs me the most. I have (too many) Republican friends and the only time I see hatred or anger in their eyes is when we discuss politics. Otherwise, they're good people. Confused, maybe, but not evil.
