The Vermont Bernie Buzz: Making Progress on Dental Care

from my email...

In Vermont, in recent years, we have made significant progress in opening up access for affordable dental care. Across the state, Federally Qualified Health Centers now have 12 dental practices with a total of 64 dental chairs. In Franklin County, for example, there are two new dental clinics associated with the Northern Tier Center for Health (NOTCH) community health center: one in Richford and another just steps away from Missisquoi Valley Union Middle and High School in Swanton. These facilities, which offer care at sliding scale fees, are making a tremendous difference in the lives of Vermonters. Just ask Nicole Gervais, a St. Albans-based pediatric nurse with nearly five decades of experience who noted that the dental clinic is “very beneficial to the health of the students and the whole community.” In response to the heavy demand for NOTCH’s dental services at the high school, expansion plans are under way.

In my State, Wisconsin, the Governer (sic) is opposed to health care of any kind unless his buddies at Big Insurance get a cut.
