Former Rep. Kucinich: Obama hasnt done anything on jobs
Former Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) blasted President Obama on Sunday for not doing enough to lower the unemployment rate in the country.
President Obama hasn't done anything about the unemployment problem, said Kucinich on Fox News Sunday.
We have massive amounts of people who are out of work and
[Obama] has to be held accountable for not creating the jobs. We have about 8 million people out of work, about another 8 million people working part time and shouldn't be. We need an economic agenda. We don't have it.
A staunch liberal, Kucinich has been actively outspoken against some of the administrations policies and actions since leaving office at the end of the last Congress.

It is nice to see that Mr. Kucinich is still able to 'speak truth to power' even while drawing a paycheck from Fox News.

(27,985 posts)Kucinich pushed the party RIGHT, not left.
They could always count on him to vote AGAINST Democratic bills. On principle. That must have been awesome for him. But the thing is, if Kucinich could be counted on to vote no, the Democratic leadership had to get the vote elsewhere. Like towards the votes on the bubble from Blue Dogs. They end up either changing the bills to appeal to them or cutting a deal on another legislative priority (or simply putting in an earmark) to get that other vote.
If Kucinich had voted with the leadership to begin with, some of that that wouldn't have been necessary.
FOX and Ron Paul on, little buddy. We have shit to do.

(31,233 posts)That's the only reason he's on Fox News, and every honest person here knows it, whether they want to publicly admit it or not. For a real world view of Kooch's effectiveness as a legislator, I think it's important to have some perspective. Dennis is obviously celebrated much more for his rhetoric, than his record. This is a great synopsis:
"Just look at this section from the biography on his congressional Web site:
In Congress, Kucinich has authored and co-sponsored legislation to create a national health care system, preserve Social Security, lower the costs of prescription drugs, provide economic development through infrastructure improvements, abolish the death penalty, provide universal prekindergarten to all 3, 4, and 5 year olds, create a Department of Peace, regulate genetically engineered foods, repeal the USA PATRIOT Act, and provide tax relief to working class families.
Notice that the bio never says whether any of that legislation actually passed. In fact, according to the Web site GovTrack, of the 97 bills Kucinich has sponsored since taking office in 1997, only three have become law. Ninety-three didnt even make it out of committee.
The three that were enacted are, in chronological order from first to last: (1) A bill to make available to the Ukranian Museum and Archives the USIA television program Window on America, (2) a bill to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 14500 Lorain Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio as the John P. Gallagher Post Office Building (3) and a bill proclaiming Casimir Pulaski to be an honorary citizen of the United States posthumously.

(12,448 posts)the difference. He instead elected to double down (to use the current annoying phrase) on the failed strategy of his predecessors.
We are exactly where we were told we would be, by the ignored people that have proven themselves right time and again, if these policies and actions were taken.
He was elected to inspire and institute change, he chose to screw the people and caused 2010.
geek tragedy
(68,868 posts)in US history. It was the biggest package that could get through Congress (thanks to Republican filibusters).
He wound up expending a lot of political capital on that.
And then he helped push health care reform and Wall Street reform through Congress.
And, then the Bush tax cuts for the super wealthy finally went away after he won re-election in 2012.
I guess in some fantasy world Republicans didn't exist, the filibuster didn't exist, and Blue Dog Democrats didn't need to be courted.
It's a childishly naive view to think all the problems were caused because Obama wanted to "screw the people."
That's the kind of crap one hears on Fox & Friends.
No, I take that back. Such commentary is too dumb for Fox& Friends.

(12,448 posts)same people, you know, the ones who've been right all along, told us was the minimum needed to do the job, and even at that half of it consisted of tax credits that were useless to the millions that lost everything.
What you choose to believe is irrelevant, what is, is, and we are all living through the consequences of his failures.
His reelection is, likewise, irrelevant since his primary accomplishment in his endless quest to placate people that hate him was to alienate enough people that wanted to support him that he was "shellacked" when it mattered. Just like he and the party are doing right now, again.
I didn't say he wanted to screw the people, those are your words. He chose to ignore sane advice from people who didn't collapse the global economy and sacrificed us in order please his masters.
And you still haven't answered the question, but then I didn't expect that you would or ever will. You're just as much a zealot as any asshole in a tricorn hat, Ignoring what is, in favor of what you wish. You can't even recount recent history with any honesty. The Bush tax cuts for the super-wealthy didn't "go away", they were raised slightly but were still permanently reduced from what they were when Bush got them in the first place, and in exchange we got insufficient, temporary relief for some of their victims.
Now, you can go think of some more names to call me.

(68,868 posts)truly remarkable. Takes some determination to produce such a deficient analysis.
P.S. this is a site for Democrats, not Naderites. So if you truly believe that it was irrelevant that Obama rather than Romney become President, there are probably better websites for you to bless with your "Obama is the root of all evil" analysis.
Your personal animosity towards the President is clearly the only driver of your opinions, as you refuse to look at other institutional actors as influencing and constraining his options.

I have no personal feeling about the President, I have never met him. Like millions of other Americans, I voted for him twice thanks in large part to the quadrennial clown car of republican candidates, but that doesn't change the facts you are determined to ignore any cost. Inconvenient facts like the one that we gave him and the party both houses of Congress as well as the White House and what we got in return was weak, ineffective half measures guaranteed to fail. He couldn't even whip his own party into shape and repaid Democratic obstructionism with abject submission and a policy of welfare for Wall Street, fuck all for Main Street.
But please, do let me know when they make you The Final Arbiter of What Constitutes a True Democrat, I'm sure it will be quite entertaining.

(1,560 posts)At least he was someone who actually pushed for a real universal health care plan when most Dems, led by the President, were throwing in the towel in 2009, and has consistently opposed our overseas meddling and interventions. He's always been a critic of Obama and the Dem establishment, i have no problem with that.
