Sweet.
Everyone, if the sirens go off, especially if there are storms in the area, maybe a hot, muggy day.... get under cover. Get your kids under cover. Do NOT open or close windows to the exterior; it makes no difference and you have no time. Just go to a basement, interior room, or closet. These are not things with which to trifle.

If you pay attention and do what they say, you have a really good chance of being okay. When they say get underground, you do it, no delays.

(5,810 posts)the local news went on live, minute by minute with radar showing where the tornado was headed. It was night time so seeing it would have been difficult. The wall to wall coverage for a local community is going to save lives since they can inform people moment by moment so they know what's going on and where.
Coincidentally, I just read stories today about a tornado that struck Vicksburg, MS in 1953. They had little warning so a lot of people died because they were just going about their business, shopping, etc. It hit late in the afternoon in Dec. and no one seemed to be aware that it was coming. Devastated the town. Killed 38 people and injured many more. Thank goodness things have improved for predicting storms and where they are going so at least people have a chance to either take shelter or move away from the storm's path.

(5,810 posts)Setting up search and Rescue at Warren Theater. If you pray, you need to do so now. If not, just send your good thoughts their way. They are going to need it.
TV reporters are obviously emotionally affected by what they are seeing.

I am just sick. I hope they were in a shelter.

(115,103 posts)They should have released them early... Before it got so bad... I can't stand it... Nothing around here has below ground shelters ... Bedrock too close... I hope its different up there... My god...

(5,810 posts)Lots of homes destroyed. Helicopter reporter sounds pretty shaken up just viewing the damage from the air. Reporting the school is completely destroyed. Houses, school, etc. completely leveled.
